What do you think: some sort of viral marketing campaign, or just a graceless d*ck?

I can't claim the credit for cockwomble I'm afraid. That credit goes to Mr Greg Collins of this parish. He allows free use though

Pedestrians have priority when crossing the road, doesn't matter what colour the lights were.

I thought that only applied at junctions i.e. if you are turning off into a side road and a pedestrian is crossing it you must give way? I'm probably wrong, doesn't matter. I've no problem with giving way to peds, but there seems to be a growing number (in Crowland anyway) of yoof who seem to think that walking along the road and obstructing traffic when there is a perfectly serviceable footpath 4 feet to their left is a sensible thing to do, which does raise one's blood pressure a point or two.
Replying to the original post, as stated by others we'd need to know if it was steady or flashing amber. Trouble is, if he'd had a bell fitted and rung it, she'd probably have thought him a typical rude cyclist for daring to let her know he was approaching her at speed.

What he means by priority in this sense is that you are not allowed to run them over, which isn't a helpful application of the word "priority", as by that definition everyone has priority, and the word has lost its meaning.

I'm not aware of anything in road traffic law that states that a driver is legally required to stop for a pedestrian WAITING to cross the road, other than in the case of designated crossings and the side road case.

Anyway, this is all kind of irrelevant anyway. Everyone has a duty of care to avoid causing a collision, and, in a civilized society, a duty to show consideration for other people; the mode of transport and what your rights are is irrelevant.
