Egg shell is too sheeny for the effect we were after, but I have used it in the old rag rolling days.

I was hoping on some opinions of what others thought would constitute wipeable, Lots of politician style answers so far, but at least there is some humour in here.

Have you got some of the original paint left in the tin that you can use to touch up marks and scuffs? Emulsion isn't a sealed surface but it is washable if you don't rub too hard! ...no alternative if you want a matt finish unfortunately.

The Matt paints are chronic. You can't wipe them anymore. Going for soft sheen again as a couple of our doors have gone mucky very quickly. Crap stuff. I think lots of woodwork paints have gone down hill with the tightening of regulations about additives.

Having stripped the walls and prepped all woodwork in our hallway at the weekend in preparation for decorating I am now bringing the job to a stop.

I refuse to go any further until this wipeable paint debacle has successfully been resolved at your house. Please let me know when you have a resolution (but don't rush)

Can someone let my wife know please, it's probably best if I'm not within throttling distance when she finds out!

is something like this available in the UK? http://www.lifeandhome.com/modern-m...-gallon.html?gclid=CPy0iozjkr8CFSxo7AodJAsAiw
We use it a lot on wallpaper in high traffic areas, if it gets a little rough looking just give it a fresh coat. it's very quick and easy to apply. Polyvine also manufacture a similar product but it is impossible to cover large areas without it flashing, so maybe buy a small bottle and do a test before committing.
Flat and matte paints are always going to leach pigment when you apply a damp cloth, especially on darker hues, even high quality paints like Farrow and Ball.
