The only one I can possibly consider having happened to me is the odd car blocking a filter on the left, and even these are so discreet that I doubt they really intentionally block my path

I think that's probably true. I notice it happening a lot more where theres' a left turn coming up, and they naturally drift left in anticipation. It shows a dreadful lack of awareness of what's going on, and is bloomin' annoying, but I suspect not deliberate.

I've definitely had the pull left to block done on me, and you see them inch as best they can to block you, moving out of the line of traffic getting themselves at an awkward angle. However if they can move 2 ft left, then it means there is a 2 ft space to the right and all the more funny to use it to pass them.

I had it happen to me recently by a driving school car. The instructor told me that cyclists are only allowed in the gutter and
the rest of the road was only for cars and if a cyclist strayed they do so at their own risk. Presumably everyone he teaches is taught this.

Look on the bright side - it means they've seen you. On the other hand, perhaps these are just coincidental and you're still invisible.

Filtering between vehicle and the kerb suicidal. Unless it's a cycle lane with a bit of clearance I steer well clear of the inside of motor vehicles.
Yes I agree. I only do this when the cars are stopped. When I look further ahead and notice cars have started moving, I just pull back and take central position behind my chosen car.

I think it is mostly in your head.
The only one I can possibly consider having happened to me is the odd car blocking a filter on the left, and even these are so discreet that I doubt they really intentionally block my path so give them the benefit of the doubt. Never had anyone actually swerve to the left as I approach, just occasionally get passed by traffic then find one of the cars at the back of the next queue has stopped a bit more to the left than the rest if the line. Maybe because I usually filter on the right? I don't recall ever thinking anyone is trying to block me when filtering on the right.

Maybe you should go and see a shrink because they are not all out to get you ;)
They're all out to get me. Those scumbag drivers!

Close passes are the norm on my commute but i am so used to it,i do not get flustered now. In standing traffic,i used the nice white line down the middle of the road to direct me to the front of the gridlock :hello:

Depends on the road imo. I find that irrespective of the presence of a cycle lane, most drivers on a fairly wide road will drive as far right as they can without crossing the centre line, so sometimes there's much more space to filter on the left

I've had all the usual ones, but riding home the other week I saw something happen to a cyclist in front of me that I haven't seen before. The dreaded windscreen wiper washer squirter. Made me chuckle!

Gotta love the idiots that block you, so I just ride past the other side...^_^

I do love out cornering motorbikes on my 23 mm tyres and on a fixie... :hungry:
