My commuter is a flat bar chromo frame & forks. Very comfy aside the handlebar grips.

I feel every vibration and hands go number after while (yes I wear padded mitts). Looking to replace with alternatives. What do I need to look for in new grips?

Personally, I would wrap them with cork handlebar tape. Put it on nice and thick if you need more cushioning.

Thanks All.

Next question....

...I have good bar ends, which I wish to retain.

How easy would it be to cut the inner end of the Ergon grips so that they move inward to allow space for a bar ends?

Is the material rubber or other 'uncuttable' materials?

The Ergon grips in the link come with thier own bar ends, but they do have ones without.

I think that they are designed to fit so that they are secured by a ring that clamps on the end of the bar. I don't think it is possible to fit any bar ends outboard of this clamp. I could be wrong.

Thanks Touche. I'm interested in the GP1, which has no bar ends.

Spoke to a couple of bike shops that sell them. Yes, it's possible to cut about 1 inch off the inner part of the grip to allow it to move inward.

This then creates space at the end to attach your own bar ends.

Have ordered a set. Thanks again all.
