What happened to Burger King?

I don't often eat at fast food outlets but if I do it's either KFC or McDonalds. I know a lot of people would rather lick their own XXXX than eat at either of these establishments, but I happen to quite like the convenience and consistent quality of the food (I know, I know...some people will ask 'What quality?' but again it's just my opinion!).

Anyway, we tried Burger King today - I'm guessing, it's probably been about 12 years since I last went into one. There were a few warning signs:
1. It was like a ghost land at 12.30
2. The toilets had a security pad that you had to get a code for to go to the toilet
3. I had to shout someone over to come and take our order

It wasn't great:
1. First of all, they didn't have the first thing I wanted (spicy bean burger - I seemed to remember that that I used to like them)
2.It took ages for the food to actually come
3. The prices were much higher than other places £6.19 for a basic medium meal
4. The burger was cold (although I presumed that the long wait for the food was because they were cooking it fresh???)
5. The chips were hot but there weren't many of them!

Is it just the one we went to or is it on it's way out???

Try a proper cafe or take away.

I don't eat at any of those places regularly, but every few years I get an odd craving and end up going in (I'm not above it, but also what's the point when you can get a better burger at Weatherspoons and a free pint for the same price).

Last time I ate at Burger King it was the one at Euston Station. Whatever 'flame-grilled' treatment they'd gave the burger made it taste of burnt plastic and I ended up not finishing it. I almost never leave food, but it was gross.

I only go into McDonalds if I am on holiday abroad.KFC (or equivalent) stuff is my favourite although I do frequent Reading Station Burger King at times.

I use McD for convenience if I need to stop for a quick lunch. Maybe once a fortnight. I usually have one of their wraps, 400 Kcals or so, and the coffee is well drinkable.
Tried BK occasionally, and they are consistently awful.

Blimey, I cannot for the life of me remember when I last had a Burger King..or a Wendy's. Do Wendy's still exist.

Macdonalds are ok for a quick snack. Their porridge and coffee are rather good.

I'm pretty certain there's a Wendy on New Cross Road just to the right of the high street end.

They do in the USA.. I was in one last week and have to say it was far superior to McD's..
In fact on my fast food tour of Florida, and other visits over the years, I have found that McD's and KFC as served up in their homeland are much better than what passes for the same product over here. We do tend to take ideas from other countries and then make a complete and utter ar5e of it.
