Cracking storm here..its now a beautiful morning and the patio is dry..

Wow - that was quite a night on the Sussex coast. The lightning was pretty much continuous as was the thunder for about an hour. The cats didn't enjoy it much though.

I put the mockers on that last night saying there was no thunder.It started around 1am and i was still trying to get to sleep at gone 3am.

It was quite violent for over an hour where I live, which is about 15-20 miles south of you, @Drago.

A first for me: I got woken up by a single Hiroshima thunderclap in the early hours. Never happened in all my days (I'm a very heavy sleeper). 'er indores says the local Facebook people are talking about it. Plenty of storming after that, with the dog going a bit mental, but that first one was something else.

I've just had a wander to the local shops in Orton centre..loads of washed debris from water flow..
Most of its been sucked up by the verges now, but it looks like a damn good rain fall last night

Very little thunder last night, and I didn't see any lightning
It did hammer it down for a while though! But not enough to wash me away

Impressive display of lightning my way last night. The thunder woke me up so I watched the display for an hour or so.

I really thought that we were going to get it this time ... It was very sunny earlier, then it got very humid and the clouds started to build. It was so dark just now that I needed to put the lights on in the house. I have been watching the display on LightningMaps.org, however, and the storm seems to be about 55 km NW of here at the moment so I think it might just sneak past again.

Perhaps I am a bit slow but I suddenly realised what the expanding, fading circles on the LM display represent - thunderclap wavefronts! I want to see if I hear a bang when the display shows that I should but the storm needs to move closer for that.

It's crashing and banging here again and it's gone godawfully dark... No sign of any rain yet, but given how soggy everything was this morning, it must've wazzed it down last night.

It was still storming here about half 4 in the morning.
