did anyone see that van den broeck tried to get back on his bike and continue? apparently he didn't get very far before setting himself back down on the edge of the road.
3 broken ribs a collapsed lung and a fractured scapula!
ooh apparently team sky might pursue legal action.

Those pictures are horrific!!! I gasped out loud when I saw them.
I was also deeply impressed by the man's forgiveness on TV yesterday when he was interviewed. His graciousness was amazing. I wonder what our favourite sprinter would have said in the same situation!!!!

I saw the footage on TV, but had no appreciation of the real damage done. Poor bugger. In my book that's pretty much criminal negligence on the part of the driver.

I guess the French driver was a city type, unused to the eccentricity of French country roads. In some parts e.g. the Languedoc the trees are actually in the road! Very fine trees they are too but the roots don't make the ride very comfortable..
Haven't watched the tour, roadside for a couple of years but last time I thought there were way too many m/vehicles involved.
Hoogeland deserves a medal.

I saw the incident live on ITV4, and my first reaction was to hope that the rider wasn't dead, considering the speed at which he went into the fence.
