i bet replacing your Volvo keys was a costly experience @gary r

I lost the bottom bracket threads on my old Colnago last Saturday

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I lost my favourite pair of earings. Aquamarine (my birthstone) and diamonds. I started to panic after about an hour. Fear not though, Mr WD found them. He pointed to my ears.......i was wearing them.

I had been looking for them on and off for about a week before i seriously started to panic.

Lost my wallet at Eroica this year.
Discovered it missing when I attempted to buy something from a stallholder.
Went into panic mode. Asked at lost property. Asked at all the stalls I had visited. Phoned the local police.
Resignation and dejection set in, so phoned the bank and got my cards cancelled.
Went back to my car to drive back the caravan site, which was a few miles away.
Found my wallet in the seat front pocket (where I'd left it).
Muppet.

A digital watch with a battery that lasts 10 years. My short-distance vision is now so bad that I wouldn't be able to read it without my glasses (which I don't normally wear) so it's no big loss.
I'm going to replace it with an analogue watch, I should still be able to see where the hands are pointing.

I used the spare key ! didn't want the expense of paying out for a replacement key, and just as well as someone crashed into me last bank holiday weekend and it looks like its a write off !

My son recently lost his Insulin Blood Meter - added complication that it talks to his insulin pump. No idea where it went. Roughly the same time, he also 'lost' almost a grands worth of Digital SLR ! No idea where they went, could have been left on a bus, at college etc. Checked at college, no sign of either.

Roll on a few months, new meter and camera have been claimed for on insurance. Telephone call from College, 'is this your camera' - it's apparently now turned up, but the meter hasn't. Grrr One of those 'good job your head is fixed on'.

OK this wasn't recently, but has to be my worst case of losing something.
Drove to London and parked in Finsbury Square car park, I usually went to town by train and had a season ticket.Left work, took the train home as usual, and wondered where my car had gone when I returned home ! penny dropped, called myself a few choice swear words ! picked up the car and hefty car park bill the next day

I lost a small torch, going from my car to my flat about 6 weeks ago. Then i lost a spare retractable dog lead about the same time, thinking i'd left it down the pub and someone had picked it up/nicked it,only to find it under the passenger side car mat. I've also lost a head torch about 2 weeks ago. Out of all the things i lose torches must come top of the list. That's why i don't buy expensive torches. It's bad enough losing ones that cost 6 or 7 quid!
