Hi

What cycling helmets meet (or maybe exceed) Snell B-95 and are for sale in the UK?

Where can I buy them from?

Cheers

Dave

Well the thing is that Snell is from the USA and they have different ways of testing. So what you will need to do is find out what the standard code is in the UK then you can look it up. All cycling helmets will have ether have a BS or a EN code mine has EN1078.

Hi

Thanks I will have a look at the link.

From the reading I have done, all Helmets sold legally in the uk meet EN1078, however the us standard Snell B-95 takes much more rigourous testing to meet.

There are some helmets in the uk, meeting the snell B-95 standard, that I know of, however I was wondering if anyone knows of any?

Cheers

Dave

I apriciate any useful comment, so value your oppinion.

I want the best helmet I can get my hands on, pm will be sent to you in a second.

After my own reading, Snell B-95 is the most rigourous standard I can find.

If you want a lid, either get one that keeps you cool (costs a bit), one that looks OK, one that looks 'orrible, or one of these boil in the head skater ones........... All are good enough for gravel rash protection.....and a knock..... saves a big bad headache though.........

Don't expect them to save your life though............they won't....

Well I can recommend both the Bell Sweep R and Bell Volt....... very cool (heat) helmets, meet regs, and are usable day to day......

I have both............

Snell helmets are tested to a higher standard and have the advantage of being "off the shelf" - the same as you would buy!

Very few helmets are now manafactured that pass Snell B95.

This is a big joke on the pro-helmet campaigners, modern helmets are essentially less protective than those of 15 years ago!

However if you wish to investigate, the full list is available from the Snell Memorial Foundation

Hi

Many thanks for the link, will look at this tomorow.

If I could buy a helmet, that was for sale 10 years ago I would as I think the same, however this is not possible, so I have to do the best with what we have now.

Thanks again for the link Cunobelin

Cheers
