What is a fair price?

As some know I had my boardman stolen just before Christmas, well I have replaced it with a team carbon from a friend who is no longer able to ride (paid bargain price for it)

I am planning on selling the replacement boardman road comp when the voucher arrives from the insurance. Now halfords currently gave 20% off taking the shop price to £750. What would be a reasonable price to sell at?

how much is the team carbon that you are selling for £750, if someone was to buy it new with the 20%off discount? Then take away at least 10% because it's second hand?

If I understand it correctly you want to sell the new replacement? If so why not sell the voucher if possible then whoever buys it will have a new not secondhand bike and can pick size etc. and as a result the audience would also be greater and price higher?

X: the OP isn't selling a second hand Team Carbon, he is selling a voucher for a brand new Road Comp which Halfords currently retail for £750 (net of a 20% reduction).

First you have to find someone who is considering buying this bike and then convince them to use your voucher, which doesn't put you in a very strong bargaining position: you're stuck with this voucher which is no good for anything else and they can take their cash anywhere.

I would say that anything over what you paid for the Team Carbon would be a result. I'd stick it on Ebay with a reserve of what you paid for the Team Comp.

If the voucher doesn't have an expiry date, it might be worth waiting until the Spring when people are thinking of road bikes again and there isn't so much competition from shops selling off last year's models at a discount.

Which bike is being bought and which is being sold - I am a tad confused?

If it is the bike to be bought with the voucher, if possible, it does make sense to sell the voucher so the buyer can buy what they want rather than what you want to sell, does it have to be a Boardman from Hellfrauds? Maybe find the buyer before you buy the bike - at least you can get the size they want? Get them to pay (a good deposit) up front of course

Depending on how many people are interested in the bike, you may lose up to 20-30% I would think.

I've bought the team carbon from a friend.

I have a £750 halfords voucher. Can be spent on anything in store as far as I am aware, which is what I will be selling. Either the voucher or the bike purchased with it.

+1 for selling the voucher if poss so the buyer can order the bike to suit them rather than selling a bike you've ordered, (if you know what I mean). However,if you do have to, or you simply decide to order the bike yourself I'd find out what the best selling size was to maximise your audience.

Do you have to be present at the purchase i.e. is you name on the voucher ....... if not just stick the voucher on ebay.
