What is it with BMW X5 drivers?

Very scary story.

Most X5 drivers are just bitter because they couldn't afford the X6 and take out their anger on the smallest target they can find, usually cyclists.

I was riding home (South London) a little while ago this afternoon when I was assaulted by an X5 driver. ........

Very sorry to hear about this, I know what I would have done, however what I wanted to say is that where I live there are a great many bmw's on the road and my experience is that they are no worse or better than any other make of car. Might it be not so much the make and more that road / area?
At least its good to know prejudice is still alive and well on the forum .

He may be a regular on that route so keep an eye out, and get a cheap helmet cam.

The cops advised me to get a helmet cam too. Not sure I can justify the cost though, they're about £300, right?

To be honest, if not one member of the public is going to help you, then you might as well stay down on the ground and wait until the police/paramedics turn up.

At least then the police would be forced to take it seriously.

I wasn't injured though. I'd feel stupid just laying there waiting for the emergency services.

Different. In fact I think the first one a few months ago may have been an X3 or X4 (not good with cars really). The first one didn't have blacked out windows either.

You need to get a camera fella, this is totally the circumstances where they are vital.

This isn't the first time this guy will have done something like this and it won't be the last, he needs reporting before he seriously hurts someone.

I only mentioned the make of the car because this year I've had 2 incidents with drivers assaulting me, both driving BMW X class. It's up to people to draw their own conclusions based on their own experiences. First incident happened in Brixton and the driver was a South African muscle Mary, second incident in West Dulwich (quite a posh area) and I didn't see the driver.

You can get Veho Muvi and look-alikes for £40 or less; the quality of their film is reflected by the price ... but they do the job.

Veho Muvi is about £40 and it's ok. Contour Roam is about £120 and it's excellent. You get what you pay for but I feel a lot more secure having one than not.

Getting just one of those zarks on YouTube, and a letter from the police, and hopefully in court for assault is worth 3 expensive video cameras. Just do it mate.

That's why a camera is good, you bite your tongue at the time, put the incident on YouTube and shop em to the fuzz!
