Davidc, man you were fast in those days, I would imagine you would have been chasing Ray Booty around. Good on you to be still riding a bike after all those years.

That's the advantage of being an unfit old knacker, i start sweating about 100 yards from the house and don't stop until about an hour after i get to work.

I always run much 'hotter' than other people and so tend to work up a sweat even when I'm sitting still if the temp gets a bit warm. My ex used to refer to me as 'the human hot-water bottle', and she could feel the heat radiating from me from about 30cm away! Summer is a nightmare for me as I just need to step out the door and I'll be sweating in minutes - I suspect I may suffer from a mild touch of hyperhydrosis. I remember the look of horror on Magnatom's face when we did our first PfS ride, as the first thing I'd do at each feed stop was wring an alarming amount of fluid out of the cut-up Buff bandana I wore beneath my helmet to stop the sweat running down into my eyes!

Therefore I could probably go all winter in shorts and a short-sleeved top as I am steaming hot within a mile on even the coldest of days, though I do wear long-sleeved tops and bib-longs when winter sets in as it's not good for the knee and elbow joints to be exposed to the icy cold. I do just end up sweating buckets though!

You sound a lot like me in that I can sweat buckets with minimal physical exertion, sometimes none whatsoever. I tend to dress down even in cool conditions as I know that even though I am feeling chilly to start I will perspire loads within minutes of setting off. No matter how short the distance I need to wear some form of "technical" clothing as any other fabric will stick and smell, not nice, trust me!

For some reason on longer rides, especially in the summer, I end up with a bright red face and an unsightly sweat mark on my forehead from the helmet strap.

What is this "cold" you write about?

11 year old daughter and I were out over the last two days, both in shorts and tee shirts.

It was 45 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Only saw one other person on a bike!

It always amazes me too. I often see a guy in shorts and Tshirt when I've got a thick fleece under my windproof and winter walking trousers on. I would seize up if I rode like that with knees and hips hurting and cramping in all major muscle groups.
I guess we are all different.

Davidc, man you were fast completely mad in those days, I would imagine you would have been chasing Ray Booty around. Good on you to be still riding a bike after all those years.

(There were considerably faster 19/20 year olds around, as there are now, all certain of their immortality and invincibility!)
