i have opted for the helmet cam for now, after 4 f**kwits in a car decided it was funny to push me off yesterday. Luckily i regained my balance and kept my head enough to get the number plate. matter is now reported to police and they said they will actually consider prosecuting the driver for dangerous driving (or dangerous something or other) as the rules have now changed to enable them to do this. i won't hold my breath tho, they will come up with some excuse. have ordered a helmet cam now, as i wish i had caught them on film and don't want to miss an something like that next time.

had a week of absolute peanuts. one guy reckoned he gave me enough room. i told him to go and ask his wife if an inch is enough.

cameras have their pros and cons.

Pros
  • You have video footage if something happens
  • It's a visible deterrent
  • you can review what happened and see if you can improve your own cycling
  • uploading footage online and other cyclists will give you feedback
Cons
  • Post any footage on cycle chat and you will give criticised for not doing xyz
  • People think you actively look for trouble
  • if you upload footage online then you get a lot of people spamming you and writing stupid comments

very true, and i would think its very easy to turn into an obsessive and sit at your computer editing film for all of your spare time. so i will save it for the absolute true peanuts that do it maliciously so that it has more effect when i do report it. think it's always best to show it to the cops first anyway.

OMG.. Not being funny, but go for the 'sexual assault". Really....

Being a typical male lycra ba$tid (me) someone trying to run you off the road with 1500kg of car is no good, because, you were aggressive... oh "hand held in air"... is aggressive.... WTF.... I got no where with my report, but the bugger has an extra mark on his car with the coppers.

I found I was probably too obsessive/enthusiastic at first but that soon wears off.
Eventually it takes far less time as you become professional/quicker at producing video's and more importantly a lot more choosy about which incidents to spend/waste time on.
