A noise I can't replicate. But, you know when your coat sleeve rubs the main body of your coat, you get that high pitched... Well, rubbing noise. Almost a squeak.
My chain is doing this and I have no idea why. Does it every 2-3 pedal revolutions and stops when I stop pedalling. It sounds almost like the chain is slipping or gently rubbing past something quickly. It's driving me crackers.
Any ideas on remedy?

I've had a wheel come loose in only its drive-side dropout (not quick-release) and higher gears pulled the wheel out of line enough for the tyre to rub, but only when pedalling - while freewheeling, it wasn't so far out... but then it happened every pedal rev, which isn't what's described in the OP.
