So I had a Apollo to see if I would enjoy cycling and yes, after 10 months it fell apart, I cycle to work 2-3 times a week (40mi) only in summer at the mo, this is my second year, and every fortnight I will go up the canal, and now and then I will do Newport (south Wales) to abergavenny and I love it, for the price of Apollo it done well, now I'm on A dimond back 5 years old and handles much better more solid, great bike, slight buckle in frame, has been hammerd but does the job, as iv spent doing it up for the summer,,so rite after this summer when iv hammerd the old bike,
I plan on getting a new one but on a budget, and it needs to be easy to maintain iv been looking for bikes with v brakes as I can get to good quality bike, some of the ones with discs start at 400 but its the maintance hydrolic discs etc, so I'm down to these last few makes price ranging 300-380 please tell me which make is reliable easy to maintain and will defo last me all I do is to work in summer and some weekends up the can all no mountains jumping g off a cliff etc, so

Don't be put off by cable or hydraulic disc brakes, should be no worse to maintain than v-brakes and will certainly work better in wetter conditions.

I am no expert so just offering an opinion.
I really liked the look of the Specialised and was going to get one when I got a 40% discount offer on a Giant so went for that. I can't offer a comparison but I am very pleased with the Giant.
