10 minutes in, 10 mins back again. Baby wipes and Lynx. Haven't put petrol in my car since July. Feel a lot fitter, old clothes hang off me, muscular thighs/bum (complemented on by a woman that pinched my bum at a recent works do!)

I really hope you got her done for sexual Harassment

I really miss my commute. 75 miles each way would carry me off though ... maybe I'd have had a go at it ten years back, but not now.
All you lot who commute on bikes don't know how lucky you are! I keep trying to get a job within cycling distance, but they're not easy to come by at the moment.

Dry stuff using a desk fan - hang kit on hangers on the shelf. Also have a radiator if needed.

I used to do that .. until the gaffer said my office looked like a Chinese Laundry. Also had blokes asking why my knickers were being hung on a rad in the corridor. DUH! It's called a head band.

i live in london so my commute is actually quite fun - dodging cars and pedestrians, small children and animals...
well, maybe not. but it is good fun, a little bit of exercise in the morning/warmup for the gym sesh pre-work.
and if you know london, you know that the tube is ridiculous - my annual ticket would cost around £1.5k; i would have a very unpleasant journey, crammed into a carriage with someones armpit in my grid; in summer the journey would be worse as the carriages seem to heat to dangerous levels; tube delays and problems are a fairly common occurance

my bike? £600 a few years ago + £200/300 on bits and pieces throughout the year + £100/200 a year on servicing (and i think these estimates are quite generous!)
plus i can shower when i get in the office.
plus i know (to within +-5 minutes) when i will arrive at the office.

it really does make sense!

The thought that the cycle home gives me enough time to switch off from work and that I will resemble a human when I arrive home as opposed to a wound up, tired, cynical and miserable git.

Yes I agree, I'm a student now but when i had a stressfull job that 30 minutes on the bike on the way home, helped me place some distance between work and home, like therapy!

Took me 8 years to get one back within reasonable distance....... hard work isn't it......

Then I need another 30 minutes to recover from the ride home...

Totally agree! What's really annoying for me is that the most stressful meetings tend to be those that are planned to run last thing in the day, so I don't cycle on those days (so I don't get home tooooo late). And those are the days when I end up driving home, looking with great envy at any cyclists I pass, thinking 'I could really do with the ride today'.

AND i'd get wet if it rained !!!!!!!!!!
You say that like it's a bad thing.

Cycling in the rain is fun - well worth having to dry off for a bit when you get to the other end! If you're getting changed on arrival, then it doesn't matter if your cycling gear is wet...
