More from the point that it's called Great Britain, but I am finding it more and more difficult to say what's great about it...

Fun fact, the term Great Britain only refers to the island comprising of England Scotland and Wales.

The term British can refer to the UK, Great Britain, or the British isles comprising of the UK, Ireland, the isle of man and the channel islands.

That is also one of the reasons why it's so confusing to call yourself British.

You try putting England or Scotland on your US VISA waiver form for "Country of Citizenship" when going through US customs.

You will be asked to fill it out again and put UK or United Kingdom. And whilst you're at it they'll send you to the back of the queue as well.
