Hi all,i'm new to this site and fairly new to cycling .Due to cost of travelling and lack of exercise i got myself a mountain bike to commute the 24 mile round trip to work.Getting slick tyres and spd's have made it so much easier .My question is though,i have enrolled in the cycle to work sceme so am looking at spending a thousand pounds max on a road bike so need some good suggestions please.

I got a specialized Tricross this summer on CTW scheme, I wanted a bike that I could ride on and off road.
I love this bike but I don't have a massive knowledge about bikes so people may all tell you something else.
I was lucky that I could get a test ride on a good few styles before making a choice.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you choose

have you got any restrictions on whats bike stores you can use the voucher in? my C2W scheme is through Halfords which limits choice severely.
1000 sheets though should get you a decent piece of gear, remember to factor in Helmet, Locks, mudguards etc with the C2W amount unless you already have them or will buy them with your own money

1k to spend and you dont know what bike to spend it on ?

i think a bit more research is required before you decide on budget
your right,my scheme is 1000 max so thats just a ball park figure but cheaper is good so long as its lightish, reliable and doesnt make me look like a dick when riding with 3 others daily who all have nice looking bikes
