What no horizontal top tube

I believe the sloping top tube also fits a greater range of people sizes, so manufacturers don't need to make so many different sizes, leading to reduced manufacturing costs, quicker supply ... which means the size you need is more likely to be in your LBS when you want it !

i suspect this is a major part of it... it could also be linked with mountain biking, a lot of road riders now came from MTBs and may not be used to low clearance.

but anway, my Pegoretti has a horizontal top tube, Dario won't built them with a sloping one, so don't ask him... if he doesn't, that's good enough for me.

Bike suppliers need to come with new designs and bike identity, ie marketing with a view to sell, in my opinion this is the main drive.
