As someone who is starting to go that bit further afield in my adventures of cycling what sort of stuff should I carry in my saddle case or jersey? At the moment I carry a spare tube, tyre irons, multi tool and a chain tool.

A pump, nae use having the means to change a tube without the means to blow it up.

And I'd also suggest (tho not essential) a mobile phone and a bank card.

And maybe lights if you set off late in the fading light at this time of year (easily tucked into a pocket)

A 1980s pro jersey just in case you are mistaken as a "newbie"?

i always take spare tube AND puncture kit. If aflicted by thorns a 2nd deflation is more rather than less.likely. Couple of cable ties and some electrical tape don't weigb much and can fix a lot -at least to get you home. cake./.beer money.
