I joined a forum a while back as it was one that was just general chat, not based on one particular theme. They were vile. It was like being the nerd kid at school and trying to chat to one of the 'populars'. Infiltrating their clique proved impossible and every time I posted a reply to something my comments would be torn to shreds in an often very unkind and personal way. I remember once saying something about my 'hubby'. My god, you'd think I'd just threatened to nuke one of their kids. They called me all sorts of things, mainly about what a piece of trash I must be to use the word 'hubby'.
I stuck it out for a while in the vain hope they might accept me but after a while I actually thought that I couldn't bare to listen to their utterly snobbish, self absorbed drivel and haven't been back.

This forum is so much nicer!

Cc , couple of mtb forums.
i used to join a forum when i got a new motorbike as @Brandane has..
Trouble is i changed my bikes every few month's so lost intrest..Honda forums was a favorite and i used to meet up with a few guys on there for track days and social events..
most of these sites seem to just go quiet ..as people change the specific bikes as i did.
