if you bought a bike for £300 five years ago, and then rode it twice, stored it away and then wanted to sell it, how much would you sell it for, bearing in mind that it still looks the dogs bollocks and there's nothing wrong with it and it's got a really nice finish to it and you wouldn't know by looking at it that it was 5 years old?? Even the chain looks like it's never been used, it looks brand new.

In the past i've been lucky enough to get two bargains with five year old £300+ bikes.

I got a Raleigh road bike for £150 looked like new apart from a few rub marks on the rims where the brakes had been used.
I also got a nice Ridgeback hybrid for £90 whose owner had ridden it three times before deciding cycling was not for him and he stored it in his spare bedroom.

it's my friends bike and she has bad hands so she can't use the gears, hence lack of use. I went round to look at it and i was shocked at how nice the bike is. looks like it's just come out the shop. but at the end of the day it is 5 years old so as that's the only bad factor i told her to sell it for £150 or nearest offer. I wasn't far off then??

to be honest, pretty gutted she's 5' 4 and i'm 6 foot, otherwise i would have snapped her hand off myself.

Try £175 ono.

I'm sure it will sell for more than £150. Bear in mind that my purchases were made five or so years ago.
