On the way to sixth form I used to save a few minutes by taking the right hand lane, going all the way around the roundabout to go left. If I stayed in the left hand lane (left and straight over) I'd be sitting there for a good few minutes.

Excellent! I'll remember that one.

Only the really serious numpties do this slowmotion, if you want to bring a busy junction to a complete standstill try it and see what happens... Police recorded and prosecuted drivers on the A690 in Durham for doing this and in York on the A59/61 outer ring road. Thomas isn't the complete divot that he's pretending to be....

It really doesn't bring a junction to a standstill.

Most of the time where i would do it, everyone would be queing to go straight over, when I wanted to go left. I could either sit in the que (for no reason), or go right at the roundabout...carry on it, until I did 360' and then take what would originally have been left.

Depending on my mood there were alternative ways to get to college which cut out sections of traffic.

I don't know what the police prosecuted drivers for, but if it was for going around a roundabout then they really know how to best spend their time...

The point, Thomas, is if everyone did it like you then no-one would get anywhere.... and yes, the Police have better things to do than teach idiots how to behave.

If everyone else did it, it would save me doing it!

Certaintly what I did wasn't unsafe.

oh,...btw, I certainly wasn't the only driver to do it.

Ooo, look, another one we can add to the list. I think we now have speeding, riding at night without lights, cycling whilst texting, driving whilst texting...

Are those meant to be things that I think are safe?...sorry, I'm confussed!

Anyway, going around a roundabout, in full control of the car, while indicating and paying attention to what other road users are doing is what you should be doing at a roundabout.

Thomas, can I suggest you don't go down there... for your own sake.

People who use the full length of both lanes are not 'pushing in', they are doing exactly what we are all supposed to be doing - it's just that too many people don't know it.

You aren't seriously suggesting this as a rational course of action?

Can you not see a teeny tiny ickle problemette with your proposal?

Muppets who block the overtaking lane on a dual carriageway.
Muppets who change lane and 'push in' queues of traffic.
Muppets who drive up your arse on motorways.
Muppets who sit in the middle lane on motorways.
Muppets who ignore 'keep clear' signs.

Is it obvious I hate driving

You've done it for me...... all of the above plus the indicator thing !!!

If you and Thomas think that's ok then I would say it equates to a RLJer on a bike, ie not a lot of consideration for anyone but themselves.
I used to drive into Boston Lincs, [Rhythm Thief might know it, notorious for long queues] for a living, approaching a roundabout there were two lanes, left lane for straight on and right lane for turning right only. Car after car would overtake stationary traffic to reach this right hand lane, then do a 360 and therefore block the rest of us from getting on to the roundabout. Not happy after having having sat in a hot vehicle for 20 mins thanks to these selfish numpties
As has been pointed out in another thread, drive like a plank, cycle like a plank. Some of you think this is defensible?????
