Another myth..... Don't believe everything you saw on "Amadeus".
Great movie, though.

John Williams did cross my mind - for the same reason as I suggested Howard Goodall upthread. The trouble is that Mozart transcended his constraints as basically a hack composer, writing much to order. I don't think there's anyone around today who does.

...

what's the difference between Mozart being a 'hack' composer, writing to order and John (all my shoot sounds the same) Williams, who does the same soundtrack to any film they push under his nose. I'd say Williams is more Whore than Hack.

and to whoever suggested Mike Oldfield... GET OUT!!!!!

Who would win out of Mozart and Beethoven in arm wrestling?

It's a bit more complicated than that...
well that was 4 minutes and 7 seconds too long... I quite enjoyed it until it's repetition bored me senseless.
It's from a film. I forget whether it's The Draughtsman's Contract or The Cook, the thief...

It's also (just about) by Mozart.

For modern comparisons with Mozart I agree with John Barry, John Willians, Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman, however much as I loath the music, Barry Manilow, and Neil Diamond and also not forgetting Johny Greenword, Philip Glass, Ryuchi Sakamoto, Bowie ....
