Left the house with my son this morning as I was accompanying him to a drum grade exam.

As we came to a junction to turn right we both got into primary, him behind me but on the nearside, and waited at the giveway.

A woman, coming across the main road from the junction opposite, comes straight at us. Both a little shocked we start shouting at her to stop. She doesn't but we're not sure where to go to get out of her way. She appears not to have seen us.

In the end I had to shout at the top of my voice "what the f*&k are you doing" to get her attention. As she got nearer I realised she was looking down at her phone!!!

She slows down a little but doesn't pause and continues on her way squeezing between us and up onto the nearside kerb to start her get-away.

We were a little too confused and taken aback at the events to get her car reg.

Unbelievable!

Unbelievable, totally shocking I don't know what to say I would have lost the plot especially if my son was with me and some stupid cow was driving in that manner.

Did you get her number plate or even part of it, if you can remember the car make model and colour.

Based on what you have described I would say not only was she braking the law using the phone but her dangerous driving effectively put your health if not life in danger and your sons !!.

It was small maroon mini-urban car, but I got nothing of the reg. I was too busy trying to protect us. I could maybe have got it when she drove away but we were in hysterical shock.

!!!!! Blimey! It's a pity you didn't get the reg as this stupid cow is worth reporting . Failing that the palm of your hand coming down hard on the roof of her car would regain her attention away from her mobile phone to seeing where she was going.

If I see car drivers like the one you did who risk driving into me, straight away I shout a loud swift "Oi!" at full volume. Hasn't failed yet and has saved my life on several occasions.

Time to buy an Airzound.........

Nasty! I second the idea of reporting it. Is the junction large/busy enough to warrant CCTV? Even if it's not, if she does that sort of thing routinely, then you won't be the first to have reported her. If she upsets enough people, perhaps the police will keep en eye open for her.

I hope it didn't affect your son's paradiddles.

He's good, thanks.

My fear for him was greater than his own. He has properly joined the company this year having had 2 collisions with cars, one moving one not, and taking a proper 20 yard grit-slide at the bottom of a descent in Wales. So having survived all this and being 15 he thinks he totally invincible so this morning he he mounted his ali and set off for school in the ice

I love it when a plan comes together

Ah, Rathbone Road can be quite busy at that time of day. Was she blond (dyed, roots showing)?

Are you suggesting it was my wife?

Is your 'Wavey' connected to the said locale?

Ha, ha :biggrin::laugh:

No, I'm sure she wouldn't try to get rid of you in front of a witness who could easily identify her .

As for the name it has nothing to do with Wavertree, some so called friends used to call me 'Wavey Davey' .

That sounds terrifying - glad you are both ok. The worst thing about these incidents is how it plays back in your mind and those thoughts of "just one second later" or "if I had been waiting a bit more to the right". I was nearly struck by a shiny new Volvo last Thursday, and even though I've become quite resigned to these experiences, I still get these near-miss flashbacks.
