Depending on what sort of headset it is you may get away without replacing it exactly - but if unsure it may be worth replacing the whole headset just to be safe, it really depends on what sort of usage you are planning to get out of it.

It will be a bit easier to get a size more accurate than "about 27 mm" if your calipers have a live battery in them
(JIS is 27.0, ISO is 26.4, and French/Italian are 26.5; ISO is commonest)
