What the hell is happening to my emails?

Tonight I have had to shut down outlook a few times as it appears to be frozen when downloading messages.
I get this...

But am now seeing this which suggests I have thousands of messages coming in....

Currently on about 10k messages, don't know when it is going to stop. have I been bombed by a hacker or someone trying to crash the ISP servers?

I has this a few years ago, eventually outlook stopped working and I've read/replied to my mails online instead of downloading them ever since.

Just noticed, I'm not actually using Outlook but Windows Live Mail, as shown on the message I clipped above.... DOH!

This link suggests a recent Windows update may have broken your Live Mail program. Follow the instructions and see if it helps.

If you can't wait for an eventual fix, you need to go on the server to read your mail.

This might be the answer as windows did run an auto update when I switched on this afternoon

I've not switched my machine off yet, I've got the 'fun' of this update to look forward to.
Its there skulking on the start button, roll on my Windows 10 update

Actually, I did nothing but strangely, when I got up this morning it worked as normal! No reboot or anything, just opened the laptop and clicked on Live Mail. Go figure?
