The sun was simply fabulous... But everything else conspired against me.

Wind - Savage and gusting, causing...

... Every single London Plane on the commute to drop its seeds into my eyes and mouth, causing...

... A vicious attack of hayfever.

I actually hit Sidcup and felt happy for the first time as the trees change there. The final 5 miles was pretty much recovering.

But all things said, damn London is so beautiful under clear blue skies and sunshine.

Have an awesome weekend people.

that head wind was vicious. I was expecting a nice cruise home for the end of the week, but ended up battling on the drops.

I go to Bexleyheath, so not far from Sidcup and into the same headwind.

My evening ride was hard with the wind, it did not seem to matter which way you pointed the bike, the wind was in my face took 10 mins longer to do 21.74 miles.

agreed, wind was in my face all the way in this morning.........and seemed to be the same on the way home again....no PB's today.....too much like hard work....having said that my first full weeks commute at 75 plus miles:dance:

I made a big boo-boo with my 45 mile ride today. I thought I was having a headwind for half of it, but it turned out to be a tailwind. No wonder I averaged 25mph for 20 miles!
I was nackered when I was going the opposite way. My average ended up at 17mph for the whole journey!!

If the weather is the same tomorrow, I will head into the hills so that it doesnt really matter what speed I am doing because I will have a sidewind both directions.

Aaaah man my eyes!!! even with my sunglasses which cover most of my eyes and my cap which covers the top. I still got so much crap in my eyes.
At one point going over Vauxhall bridge I was completely blinded by the crappy tree based crap.

Yep. Whose daft idea was it to line the Embankment with plane trees? Westminster Bridge to Blackfriars Bridge yesterday into a headwind, my eyes felt like they had been sand blasted!

Hi all, first post and have been cycling from Blackfen, Sidcup to Bishopsgate for three months now. Thought it was just me being a failure with the headwind, all the way from Eltham Road to Blackfen Road crawling along in the drops ...

I seem to remember seeing a Bill Oddie-voiceovered documentary about childrens health/air pollution and there was a certain bod (can't remember his name) who began the scheme to plant them to help clean up the air in London as they absorb the crud into their trunks as they 'breathe' then shed their bark so they don't get killed by the soot. Sorry about your HF, I think I copped a dose of tree-pollen fever earlier this year as I had sore eyes for about a month.
