I'm either in the office or at home with family so I relish the opportunity to be alone, especially as we are nursing my sick MIL at home at the moment. Getting out for a walk, even if it's up to the shops, is always good and often brings a chance encounter and a chat with somebody I don't know. Solo cycling is good as well though mostly I'm accompanied by GtiJunior or my regular cycling buddy. On my Africa business trips I'm mostly alone outside of working hours so get a chance to read a book.

Tennis isn't much fun.

To be serious, years ago I used to have a pub nearby that had a very good C&W / Irish band on the first Thursday of every month. I used to make a point of going on my own because I wanted to enjoy the music rather than trying to shout over it in conversation with someone. WITHOUT FAIL every bloody time someone I'd never clapped eyes on before would try to engage me in conversation even though my refusal to do more than grunt or meet their eye made it plain I didn't want to engage. They were never interesting people but absolute bores and the type who could not stand their own company but desperately needed someone to talk to. I used to end up getting quite rude sometimes, especially when they would try and insist on paying for the pint I'd just ordered.

I have always found that people who can't stand being on their own for more than a few minutes are intensely irritating. They never have any worthwhile conversation but they don't stop talking for long enough to draw breath.

Maybe you have nice eyes.
