as I recall we have a purple helmet aficionado here, perhaps he will 'grace' us with his opinion.

I remove the straps every few months and put them in a bowl with warm water and washing up liquid. I rinse them a few hrs late. Job done.

I gave mine a soak in a washing bowl of water and a small drop of washing (laundry) liquid. Came out fine, despite the helmet instructions telling me not to. As helmet cost £10, it was worth the risk

I use Johnsons Baby shampoo for the inside of my motorcycle helmets so the same should work here, an old toothbrush will help to work the dirt loose.
