You've spoken to him, you've got video.

He'll be expecting you to report it to the company is my guess.

When the Arriva driver tried to intimidate me last month, he clearly knew he was getting reported and had already got a written statement for his bosses when my complaint came through!

Did they do anything about it?

 I sped the video up x4, I didn't know how fast it would look until I rendered it so I just picked x4. Next time i'll do it quicker so it doesn't look like me just riding faster  If I could ride at 40mph then I'd be chuffed

And I thought it was anger and the adrenaline kicking in. ^_^

Hard to say IMHO as I reckon nothing will be done by plod unless it's a more serious incident.maybe worth reporting to the company.I reckon a bit of driver education is the way forward.

True although it can't hurt to try I suppose. I might try the company and see what happens. I've been on their website, ironically enough, they're recruiting for drivers at the moment. Fingers crossed they get an extra place they need filling...

Possibly although he didn't seem that bright
If that isn't an admission of guilt I don't know what is.....
That must have been quite exciting!, some of the cyclepaths alongside the 60/70mph roads here have you passed by articulated lorries and the draught is crazy.

Just an observation, that it doesn't look from your camera like you shouldercheck a lot which I find makes things a bit less scary and also easier to preemptively brake and hug the gutter.
If by exciting you mean "crap my pants terrifying" you're right  it was closer than the video makes out to be honest, it was probably about 6 inches from my elbow, if that.
I know, I keep meaning to shoulder check more. I don't ride that often so I don't get the practice (certainly not as much as most on here) but I do try.

What an arrogant ass ! It wouldnt be so bad if he had the decency to hold his hands up and said sorry mate i was driving like a twat and showed remorse. Instead he just blatantly lies his dumb sounding ass off by trying desperatly to blame you ?

I have to say looking at his lorry his company dont seem to worried about there veichle appearence but then most courier companys apart from the big boys (ups, parcel force, dhl etc) seem to run there lorries in to the ground. They also tend to hire and fire at a ridiculous rate and use alot of agency drivers who are usually just there for the cash.

In my own experience of transport managers unless the one your going to report him to is an avid cycling fan i very much doubt anything will happen to him. You may get a letter or e-mail saying he has been spoken to warned etc but in reality he will probably get no more than a "dont try and kill any cyclists today" . Hopefully he is a you tube watcher and hanging his head in shame.

Glad your ok and hope you spread the word of this incompetant muppet far and wide

I know although even if he wasn't arrogant and apologised I would still have gone mental at him. Lying is pointless when there is a camera to prove what he said about me moving out was a complete lie.

It does look like a bit of a raggy company although their website looks decent enough, at least the homepage does. The rest looks exactly like the vans.

I will report it anyway and tell them I'm going to the Police to see what they say. If they don't seem to be that bothered then I will definitely report them to the Police. I did say at the end it was going on YouTube, not sure if it's clear but as I rode away he said "don't f**king bother". Tell me not to do something... I'm going to do it

I have emailed this to them this morning, hoping on a reply....

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am making this statement in relation to an incident that happened to me 3rd of October, 2012 on Picow Farm Road in Runcorn, Cheshire (Approx. here), involving one of your lorries with the registration PF07TCJ.
Firstly, I am a regular cyclist covering several hundred miles per month commuting between home and college and am a competent cyclist. I also drive regularly and consider myself a reasonably good driver. I also have the incident on camera (I ride with a helmet camera specifically for things like this where I consider my life to be put at risk) here: *link*
. The video is private for now so only people with the link can access it, however, I will make the video public once the Police have finished with it.
The incident in question happened on a very greasy road as it had just rained heavily 15 minutes beforehand. The weather was clear and visibility was good. I was wearing a black and white cycling top and black shorts, along with lights that were on flash mode as well as a pannier with reflective lettering on. Due to these circumstances I have no qualms about if the driver had seen me or not.
The driver in question has short brown hair, with 5 o'clock shadow and was wearing a red t-shirt at the time. The driver approached me from behind at speed (I did not check over my shoulder for fear of drifting into his path, however, I could tell due to the engine noise that he was going too fast) as I was trying to replace my drinks bottle back into the holder on my bike. He squeezed through a gap between me and another on coming car that was almost parallel to myself, leaving me approximately 6 inches of room between the lorry and my elbow. I continued to ride towards the Railway Pub and saw he had stopped, presumably to make a delivery. I questioned him on his driving, and as you will see in the video, he made an accusation that I had pulled out in front of him (which as you can see, is not true), and then claimed his pass was not close at all. He admitted to seeing the car approaching and instead of waiting sped through a gap instead of waiting.
This is not acceptable driving and is the worst close pass I've had by far in my 2 years of commuting by bicycle. Due to the reckless nature of both the driving and the attitude that implied what he did was OK, I will be reporting this to the Police in Widnes, Cheshire and I will be letting them deal with the incident.
Thank you and I look forward to your reply,
Sabian92.

Good e-mail but I wouldn't have mentioned the bottle. Ready made excuse for him as he'll just say you swerved out in front of him when you were messing around with your bottle. His speed then becomes irrelevant and the company won't bother. I very much hope I am wrong though as it sounds like you had a bad one.

I have it on video so they can claim what they like, the video clearly shows me keeping my line, I also have a GPS trace on Endomondo as well. I have the video on Youtube but made it private so only people with the link can see it as I told them I'd be reporting it to the police. If they dismiss it then it'll go straight back up, if they want to investigate I'll wait then put it back up anyway.

Even If I had moved out there was a car coming and he admitted to seeing it and blasting through as if I wasn't there regardless.

He is a class A1 cock, to be honest, but I will have to wait till (or if...) a reply comes back. I'll give it a week and if not, then Police it is.

I've also just realised I wrote "and instead of waiting he sped through the gap instead of waiting". Oooops....

Or the fact that yo have it on video (although the driver possibly knows this).

Can you post up the link to the video on Youtube?

I've had a few near misses but would be good to understand how they compare and whether I should be doing anything about it.

Thanks
