Any ideas on any rather spangly, fun, entertaining evening events that I can take a varied clentele of Snr Management Telecoms type people to if I were to hold a conference in Edinburgh next March?

Take in to account that there will be various religions represented to simply goint to the 'Tron' and getting wasted is off the list - I will be doing that though as a personal favour to myself

20011 - Plenty of time to plan it then.

Lots to do ... Theatre, Stand Comedy club, Wotsisnames Jazz place that took over the old BBC offices. Meal down at Leith docks, Climbing at Ratho ....

What are they likely to be interested in?

Take them to the Museum of Scotland and book them into the restaurant at the top for a really good meal after.
How many though?

Not Kitchins though! ....arrogance on a plate.

Someone's imaginary friend
Was going to book there for my wife's birthday last week but the reviews looked a bit poncy and put me off. We went to L'Escargot Bleu instead. Very nice.

Was discussing that with a friend last night, because it's only just down the road and Tom Kitchin was on Masterchef.

We decided it probably doesn't cater very well for vegetarians and the website wasn't working so we couldn't check

I go to the german Market most years and always make a point of going to the National Gallery, brilliant collection. There's a really good art deco theatre , might be the Kings if you fancy a show.
Can't help much on the food as we normally have breakfast in BHS on Princes St.

Needs to be an evening thing, what do they like to do - well in the money days this sort of thing would have been held in Vegas or Hawaii or Dubai and the evening would be cabaret, a show or whatever, getting shoot faced and failing to ratify a change to GSM standards the next day because the Chair was still cuffed to his 'escort' for the night.

Now however, it's more sartorial, and we like to be a tad serious so the social event should be grown-up but likely to make you laugh your tits off without offending elements of the multicultural group that will be attending

God they're Mobile Telecoms engineering snr management - they bore the tits off me lol and they're my peers!

I wanted to do this in August as the festival would be on and make this easy but hotel rates rocket that month and the funding from the governing body won't cover enough of the budget and I'm loathe to spend my internal budget if I don't have to.

i go there a lot, but no idea on this sort of thing. i usually go to the botanical gardens, holyrood park, the zoo, cramond, water of leith, the reptile shop in abbeyhill, kilimanjaro cafe and, the best of all, get the bus to Aberlady bay.

Those evening 'ghost tours' off the royal mile are mostly harmless and inoffensive fun, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
