Possibly, riding slowly, grey curly hair, fluorescent yellow top, a variety of bikes to choose from.

I know I've got a fair bit of grey, but I'd like to think 'dark haired' fitted me better! I don't mind you mentioning that I usually look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards....

Probably didn't see me. I wasn't riding in and around town much over the weekend.

I know what you mean about the window lickers Mad Doug. A friend of mine was involved with the Gloucs/Warks railway, and one of their longstanding volunteers died from a long illness, the day before a new loco was due to guest on the line. They put a wreath on the front of the loco in his honour, and got complaints from people taking photos. Someone called it 'a travesty'.

I'm the same when it comes to the hedge look!

Probably didn't see me. I wasn't riding in and around town much over the weekend.

Ah ok, I didn't miss anything then!

Yes, such small lives these people must lead.

I can understand why people slag us off. The only issue I have with it is that we all get tarred with the same brush. I would be like calling every England fan a hooligan, it's clearly nonsense!

Forgiven.:smooch:

It is quite grey, I grant you. Just not all.;)

I'm also bewildered by all the Scotsman stuff. I think lots of people are maybe actually drawn to the 'romance' of the train (IE, the route), and assume the loco was the only one that did it.

I'd love to know just how much is original by now. Probably only the 'dull' bits no one understands.

The 'Spitfire Effect'.

The likes of the boiler will be, it's just that I think it's from another long scrapped member of the class as a lot of these preserved kettles are (they have to have spares after all).

Probably the shiny bits are original, under new paint, but the rest has all been replace due to wear and tear and failing boiler certificates.

It is probably a bit like 'Wild West' films, there are more tons of removed bits of Scotsman then there were in the original loco.:giggle:

Yes I was saying that a lot of the boilers on these locos are from other scrapped examples and were acquired from BR in the '60s, often along with the loco being preserved. There is a GWR Hall which actually could have two identities, Albert Hall or Rood Ashton Hall purely because it has so many bits of each!

Very few of these locos will have all their original as built pieces.

So, yes, Trigger's Brush, maybe genuine, but just not completely original to the particular example.

Of course, when they were in service there would have been some amount of swapping bits around anyway, and, it still happens obviously, so a lot of things are hybrids even before withdrawal.

You Sir, are a pervert!

I was of course aware of the lady to what you was referring.
I've got a tenuous connection - I believe my mother worked for the non-steam powered D of H in a domestic capacity around that time.

I'm just pleased that someone realises I AM a pervert!

Also I'm amused by your 'non steam powered' bit, it gives me a rather odd image in my head!

'We need more coal, she's flagging!'.
