I'm doing the Surrey 100 tomorrow and I've just seen that the forecast is for a months worth of rain in 1 day. Obviously on my commute I'd be waterproofed to the max but I'd imagine that doing 100 miles in waterproofs I'd keel over from heat exhaustion. Is the answer just to dress like it was sunny (shorts, cycling jersey and no shoe covers) and just get wet?

I'd personally surround myself in the four walls of my living room and watch the rain fall.

Other than that, wear leggings, rain shorts over bibs, a jersey, rain jacket or maybe even a cape.

I'm using a gortex light weight waterproof jacket - and leaving my beam rack and mini panniers on the bike to put it in if the rain stops

Well, I'm not aware of the temperature for Surrey tomorrow.

If it's warm, then getting/being wet won't be a problem.
Sorry wasn't trying to be snarky. It's supposed to be between 18-21 degrees tomorrow. Ive no frame of reference for cycling that long in the rain though so don't know if I'd get cold simply from being soaking wet for 5-6 hours.

below 17C till nearly mid day.

from experience it will be significantly colder on Leith hill

No offence taken.

I would recommend overshoes. Wet feet soon become cold, and then you'll get grumpy (or I do - even grumpier than normal, in fact).

And you might want to use the peak on your helmet (if you wear one, and don't use the peak as a rule) to help keep the rain out of your eyes/face.

Cheers. I'll wear the overshoes. My helmet has a bit of a peak but is so enormous it keeps all the rain out of my face anyway.

You probably don't want to know this but at the moment in SW19 it is beautifully warm and sunny - perfect cycling weather.
