Hi,

Yep sorry forgot to say how far.

The ride is around 2.5 to 3miles each way with a big hill in between me and work. Its not a city route but more back roads and some lanes

LOL @ Potsy!

I would just wear normal clothes for a ride of that length. If you're worried about sweating just ride slow and take your time.

I wear a few base layer tops dependant on how cold it is (probably 2 tomorrow) and then my cycle jacket over them. On the bottom I will have my padded lycra shorts underneath my Ronhill Bikester trousers as its not warm enough for shorts yet for me ;)

I then change at work, I commute just over 5 miles.

Cheers for the tips.

I have allready contacted my new work place last week they have bike storage on site but forgot to ask about changing room etc which is why i am 50/50 on what to cycyle in. As i have not been able to go out and buy some cycyle gear yet due to being out of work i only have a tracksuit bottoms and some base layer tops, tshirt and jumpers as well as waterproof jacket

You class normal clothes as in jacket, tshirts and bottoms.

How do people stop getting there workware i.e shirts and trousers creased in there back pack

There is some advice on clothing for cycle commuting here, from people who think that cycle commuting is a normal activity and not an extreme sport. Personally I have commuted in a jacket and trousers and can see what the fuss is about, the only thing I would say is don't ride with a tie on, it can be annoying when it flaps about.

My old commute was about 3.5 miles I just wore the shirt and trowsers. Sometimes I liked to put a bit of effort in and build up a sweat, so on those days I'd wear a aldi cycling shirt and carry the work shirt in my pannier. In the heat of summer I'd sometimes wear aldi shorts and roll up the trowsers, I never had a problem. For days when the road was wet I liked to wear a pair of overtrousers.
