Dexter is great, but there are a couple of dud seasons in there (3 and 7). Work through 3 to get to 4, cos 4 is the best of the lot.

That's the John Lithgow one - I wholeheartedley agree. I never realised he was such a good actor until I watched him in that.

Oh, forgot, The Good Wife.

The difference between US and UK series is that both sides have the odd genius that comes up with a great script. In the US, however, the have the money to keep ploughing into it great writers to keep things fresh. They're also not afraid to dump some of the team and bring new people in.

Latest series of the Good Wife (no idea, maybe series 6?) was by far the best. In the UK, 1st series is great, 2nd good, rarely 3+ is any good.

Weird how people see things - we've got 2 episodes left of 4 and it's only in the last couple that I've found it any good. For the first 6 or 7 episodes I thought they'd fired all their writers and got teenage interns to write the script. Either that or the writer's strike had affected things.

I have my suspicions about what's going to happen, and I don't think it's going to be pretty...

Utopia is excellent.

Thoroughly enjoyed series two of Wentworth (the re-imagining of Prisoner Cell Block H) and it's going to be a long wait until the third series... might have to re-watch series one in the meantime.

currently watching The 4400, and american series which started in 2004 and got unceremoniously axed in the 2007 writers strike, but I've got a feeling it'll start going down hill before the fourth series (like Lost and Heroes did).

Also watching Chocky's Challenge from 1986 (based on John Wyndham's Chocky) and The Jenson Code from 1973.... I do like vintage british telly

I enjoyed all of Dexter, but reckon series one was the best of the lot.

oh... and I'm slowly working my way through the original Prisoner Cell Block H, which is going to take me a few years to get through all 692 episodes.

Breaking Bad on Netflix....I have a habit of missing everything when its actually current.
The best thing about missing it is that you can watch it all in one go with no adverts.

The most disappointing series recently was the new 24 which only had 12 episodes, the last one covering the final 12 hours. We turned on to watch episode 13 a couple of weeks ago to find that it wasnt on

I'm glad to see the interest in Gomorrah. Loved Fargo and made Mrs Diggs watch the movie the other day to "explain" loose ends.
We've watched all of True Blood save the last two episodes still to view (This one's mainly for Mrs D but with redhead vampires, what's not to like?)
Watched 2 episodes of GoT, they are queued on the sky+ but there's been too much cycling to watch this summer

Yes I could imagine being really frustrated at some of the episode endings if I didnt have the facility to play the next one straight away!

Best thing about the latest 24 was that it was only 12 episodes. I watched the first 3 series and then this and it was awfully long still and drawn out.

My ideal is if they commission a new series and call it 2!

I feel like I could... TAKE ON THE WORLD!!
Just finished Breaking bad which I thought was an amazing show. Now watching Orphan Black and House of Cards (the US version) which are both very good so far

24 was excellent.... but they made a horrendous error in making a second series, then a third, and a fourth, and all the rest of it... utter utter crap (IMO). There's only so much Jack Bauer apologising to everyone he meets i can handle.

[edit] +1 for Orphan Black.

The Office - An American Workplace. First 2 series were exactly the same as the original but since then its just plain better.
Veep, really caustic, sweary but great stuff
Parks and Recreation. More quality American stuff
Plus just started the first season of the West Wing.
