iv just checked out the commuting bikes thread ,what du prefer ,flats or do you hanker for drops or vice versa

My commuting experience with the drops is limited but I think I preferred the agility/speed they offered; the commute was too short to form any positive conclusions, especially on comfort but I think my next commute will be on drops too, its more fun IMO.

Definitely drops, had a couple of years using flats but after buying a road bike realised drops were far superior, so replaced the flat barred main commuter with a commuter with drops.

I prefer flats.

I love my drop bike for longer weekend rides, but for commuting, I prefer the upright commuter with both brakes and gears shifters at my finger tips. I added bar ends for extra positions.

I've never been convinced by the headwind justification for drops. If I'm in a headwind, I sit further back on the saddle, drop my elbows and grab the top of my bar ends.

Drops although I never actually use the drops themselves. 90% of my time is on the hoods and I use the straight bit for climbing.

How about Butterfly?^_^

I've just fitted a set to try and so far so good, still evaluating them so I'm not yet 100% convinced but the signs are good.

Drops all the way. More hand positions, and much comfier. Found flats caused much more wrist pressure and pins and needles as had less options (even with bar ends).

Flats are preferred for the cut and thrust of city traffic, but I miss my drops on the long flowing bits. So I'm undecided basically!

I prefer the same set up for all my cycling with all my bikes. Nothing worst than commuting for weeks on end only to do some long distance at the weekend then develop a pain somewhere like your back because your not use to the set up using a completely different bike.

So all my bikes are set up the same except for my track bike though thats impossible.

Doing 200km on a track bike takes a lot of getting use to, of what I did once with no issues due to commutting on it for months. Doubt Id be able to do that today due to not using it much
