I know it's very early to be talking about Christmas, but do any parents on the board have any insight into what their children will want? What are the current crazes, or things that will most likely influence their Christmas list?

And for everyone else, are there things you'd quite fancy this year?

I know it is early, but I am preparing an online marketing campaign for Christmas and obviously need to get things in place soon, so that I can make some money out of it .

PS: If it's just coal or oranges I probably will be very poor : )

Well I think mine want games, dvds, camera, ipod and various other expensive items (hair straighteners)... Father Christmas hasn't yet set his budget yet or decided which items on the list he or Mrs Christmas think will be good presents... and just realised I left off lego and clothes...

I suspect oranges and chocolate will get a look in too.

Son: "Dad, can I have 'Call of Duty: Black Ops' for Xmas?"

Me: "Go away, you're only seven. And I don't care how many Zombies you've killed."

Depends on how good the information is. Certainly, if any suggestions go really well I'm more than happy to send a big box of tea and plenty of biscuits as thank you....as well as giving you the warm fuzzy feeling associated with helping a poor student ;)

I'm most interested in the more expensive presents (£80-£100+). Cheers for ideas so far guys!

No idea about kids. Oliver will probably want something specific, or I'll get his Mum to advise, but trains, tractors or cars usually go down well. I'd like to get him some Fuzzy Felt, if I can find a small box of good shapes. Max is too small to have desires beyond milk and apparently at the moment weaning food of choice is beetroot, but I may knit some animals, or just find something at the ELC.

As for me, as ever, the only things I can think of that I want are a bit more expensive than I'd ask for as a gift. Various cycling stuff - a Hope light, maybe a Muvi cam. I want a new laptop/netbook too. And a Brompton.

I should start a list, because it won't be long before Mum and sister start to ask...

Rocking horse is top of the wanted list in our house. Cant beat the old ones

Have you been to the shop at Fangfoss? I was there for a craft fair a while back, and it's good job I don't have any money. It would be a bugger to get home on the rack of my bike. Some lovely ones there, real classics.

And kits too - you get a lot of cut out shapes, like contours, and then you sand them smooth.... Plus the tail, mane, bridle and stuff.

Arch - ever the sensible one. Thanks, a good reminder. I suppose, we will need to start buying them in the next few weeks.

My 9 year old has been dropping some very "subtle" hints about wanting an ipad.... Life is full of little disappointments as she is going to discover!

Mine would like them too ... but I think they know that there isn't a chance on one where as if we saw one of the others on the list on a special offer then the right shaped box might appear on Christmas day.
