I think many here are describing thier dream house...which is cool....I'm just trying to say that my own feeling of home isn't necessariloy restricted to the confines of one building/house....I carry my home around inside of me...my memories of familyetc...
sure i need a roof over my head but it doesnt need to be th esame one each month

As someone who used to do a lot of business travel, spending up to half my time overseas, I had to develop a 'home is where my Skype connection is' attitude, but I can tell you there's a great deal to be said for coming back to one's real home at the end of a trip.

I'm not convinced a home for me means a building. I think home is inside of me, I want to be able to be at home wherever I may roam. I think home is a feeling of safty, security, comfort, and above all friends and loved ones. I think all of those I carry with me inside.
Thank God for that. I thought that it was just me.

I'd like to live in Cornwall or Devon though. Any sort of home, I don't care as Iong as I have Hubster, the dogs, my bikes and my guitars.

Apart from other people everyhing in a house is inanimate.
I suspect there are a few cats and dogs that might beg to differ ...

But a home is also an environment we create for ourselves, in contrast to hotels, etc, being environments other people created.

This cottage in Charmouth has capabilities to be my dream home. By the sea, and with downstairs bedrooms and bathroom. I might slightly update the bathrooms, but apart from that I could just move in tomorrow. :hello:

There is a good sized garden, with wild rabbits. Bridport with some bigger shops is reachable by bus. Axminster station six miles away. I could get a bracing seaside walk up the coast each day.

Charmouth has a regular bus service, restaurants, takeaways, tennis courts, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, two hairdressers, a butcher, a general store, a post office, two doctors' surgeries, a library, gift shops and even a dentist.

The upstairs bedrooms means I could have people to stay with me for a week's holiday. ^_^

What is the cycling like in that area?

Spookily reminiscent of my own gaffe, as it 'appens. Especially the exquisite taste 'n that. And having a roof 'n that. And walls. In fact the resemblance isn't far short of uncanny...
It reminds me of our gatekeeper's guest house at our summer place...

Our current house is way beyond what my dream house used to be  but my current dream house is something modern with a smaller garden, less maintenance & main gas central heating
