Just ordered these myself from Wiggle. Highly recommended by my cycling buddies.

How much of a difference does it make to upgrade wheels? Fran has a pair of alex rims on her, which I don't have too much of a problem with, but it seems that most recommend an upgrade to a better set. Are they a worthwhile investment?

Wheels and tyres are the most important elements affecting ride quality (after the frame). I think you'll find the investment worthwhile.

Yeah but one of my wheels become the shape of a crisp y.day after the crash so...

Don't get too depressed Yenners. A crash every 20 years isn't so bad.

Go for the Fulcrums, know two lads who use them. They like them a lot.

Fulcrums purely based on reputation - spent too long trying to make Vuelta wheels round and straight to want some.

Of the two I think the Fulcrums are the better wheel, but both seem good value for money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
