You have to give back in the other, as the saying goes,

I received a letter the other day from n power (my energy provider) we are reducing your monthly bill and you will save £5 a month, well a saving of £60 a year I thought, that's ok

Today I received my car insurance renewal letter, and guess what, It has increased by £5 a month.

So, still no better off

Some talk of reduced car insurance premiums due in part to better detection of cash for crash scams.

So it might be worth the OP running his details through a comparison site.

I'd always recommend checking a comparison site. Pushing up the price on renewals is the oldest trick in the book

I'm getting worried now.... Got a cheque from British gas for £658 covering 5- months of feed-in-tariff via my solar panels.

No doubt he tax man will find an error somewhere.
