The word "convince" is being used instead an awful lot in media/general life. I notice this more and more and more. There seems to be a suspicious move to eradicate "persuade".

It's a slimy word akin to spin and debate, which are only ever used to deceive the masses and gain further wealth for the wealthy.

If a concept is not immediately understood and agreed with by the least educated in the land, it must be evil trickery.

Persuade has been overused by the politicos to an obscene degree and is now understood to mean "whittle, whine, misrepresent and bullsheet until someone believes you." Most adults are too cyclical to believe it any more, so the word 'convince' has been substituted.
