I knew a PC Crook, who was desperate to get married and change her name. When she divorced she still kept her married surname.

I came across an Indian fella once whose surname was Furniturewallah. Throwback from the Raj I would think.

I always remember driving to Great Glen in Leicester in the early 80’s , there were these Everards Pubs , the lads back in Oldham didn’t believe me !

She insists on being known as Barbara

Mrs Dave used to work with a girl called Mi Ow. She was Chinese
And she worked with a girl called Deepa Mistry, who wasn’t a detective.

I worked at a school in Doncaster where the music teacher was Mr Tune and one of the English teachers was Mr Shakespeare.
There was a Dr De'ath at the college in Cyncoed, Cardiff I did my PGCE. I only saw his name on his office door.

I once went in the McDonald's in Longford near Heathrow and was served by a young chap whose name badge said Arshed. I'm sure it wasn't pronounced how I saw and said it inside my own brain!

I bought a frame off a well known cyclist in '68. His name, if I remember correctly was Cliff Ash (mid shropshire wh's).

I had to write out the cheque payable to "Cash".
