Two tyre levers - never need three and that's one extra you don't need.
Spare inner
Relevant Allen keys - no point taking the ones that don't fit your bike
One relevant spanner for derraileur cable screw
Short pump
Yellow endura windproof in case it rains. i don't mind getting wet but this guards against being too cold when wet

sandwiches
(I have extra pants and socks at work and my change of clothes when I arrive)

keys
mobile
clear glasses - I ride in driver's tinted lenses
A7 size diary - I gave up on Filofax when i realised I wasn't important enough.

emergency contact card - in case, well you know ...
stubby pencil and a piece of card in case i need to jot down number plate etc.

That's about it.

Quite dreadful

Don't forget the disposable latex gloves. ( We are not talking Marigolds. ) They weigh absolutely nothing, and take up no space at all. Yes, you will get some odd looks from passers-by as you grapple with the Fairy, but what do they know?

Essentials -

multi tool, 2x tyre levers, spare tube, glueless patches (repair tube at work in case of a visit on the way in), pump, latex gloves, wet wipes, spare chain link.

Lights stay mounted to the bike during the months that they are needed, left at home during the summer. Although I do currently have a front flasher in my bag, but no rear light.

Monday and Friday I carry work clothes.

Some days I carry a lock in case I want to do some shopping on the way home.

You will also get looks of admiration if you stop to help someone who is struggling with a very dirty slipped chain, before you then offer them a wet wipe to clean up.

Too many spare batteries...I do need to stock up on spare AAA alkaline batteries though.

Good idea...Now I have to use an ordinary tyre as the greentyre dont fit on the new rim...Im expecting trouble....Think I will get some rubber gloves.May be useful for faffing about with the chain also.

One for use on front tyre and one for use on rear tyre.

Nah I had this years ago...Had a p*nct*re at Stratford...when I fixed it I used the pump to pump it up (obviously) and the pump disintegrated.Have two small mini pumps now...(I think)

I had to walk three miles home.
