You close off one nostril with your finger and blow really hard to blast the snot out of the other side?

I do this a lot on my 12 mile each way commute so I figure I might as well know what it is I'm doing

;-)

I've learned something today, too... My Sealskins are being hardened by Snot Rockets.

Of course, they occasionally work their way down the throat and have to come out via the mouth, whereupon they magically transmogrify into the delicacy known as the "docker's oyster".

The daily clearing of the sinuses is a privilege of cycling which I credit with keeping my respiratory tract in good health throughout the winter, whereas I used to suffer from regular chest infections and bronchitis.

I guess what's being covered in snot compared to the dog crap that'll splatter you while in woods mmm

I think I should point out that my "Snot Rockets" are, by and large, clear, and free of green tinge (the exception is when I'm under the weather with the common cold, which is rare).

I should also point out that, for some reason which is probably temperature related, I only tend to require a blow on the commute home, rather than both directions.**

Hopefully this somehow makes me slightly less of an abject creature to our wonderful community here.

** Of course, out on longer weekend rides, all bets are off, especially on cold mornings
