On the left hand side chainstay, most riders seem to have a little yellow thingy hanging off the tubing......

    What is it?

It's a transponder for the electronic timing equipment.

A couple of year ago one came loose on Vino's bike (I thnk) and the mechanic leaned out of the support car and cut it off with the bike going at a rate of knots. Brave if slightly foolish but it worked!!!!!!!!!!

T'was the same stage as yesterday Keith, 2 years ago. Vino was with Botero going into Briancon doing about 50 kph and the mechanic just cut the transponder off with a pair of wire snips leaning out of the car window.

Vino went on to win the stage so he probably bought him a pint that night.
