My great grandmother on my mothers side died at the age of 104. She was 'with it' right to the end. Bless her.

Started young, and still going.

My grandmother was 92 when she died in 1991, so she was a Victorian, and my Father is now 91 but not in the best of health. I may of unwittingly met older people but cannot recall when.

Used to work in the EBME dept for a trust that had a psycho-geriatric hospital within it's remit. During one visit to service kit there they were having a 113th birthday party for one of their patients. True enough there was an ełderly woman sat in front of a flaming cake trying in vain to blow out all the candles. I felt obliged to go over and wish her a happy birthday .
That cake with 113 candles must have been more like a bonfire

I was a in the pub a few years ago (I know...) and there was a chap leaning on the bar supping his pint and chatting away, he looked late 60s early 70s range, he was actually 96!

Another one at 102 years; my grandmother, still going strong and living in her own house (with a fair bit of extra help)
My Auntie Cis died aged 104 a few years back... lived in her own house, had all her marbles, just had the home help coming in each day to do a bit of cleaning and chat. She'll have been about 98 the last time I saw her so is probably the oldest person I've met.

My favourite Auntie Cis & (late hubby) Uncle George story was a couple of decades ago... my mother told me they'd re-flagged their driveway, which to me was as interesting as someone's new curtains. Mum reiterated and said 'they've re-flagged their driveway'. Both well into their 80s, a little old man and big old lady re-flagged a 40 foot driveway, by hand. :okay:
