What's the age of the oldest person you've met?

I am currently temp working for a few weeks on the reception desk of a local NHS clinic. One of the services operated there is podiatry, and last week a lady was brought in by ambulance - not a blue light one, but a "minibus" type one. The ambulance driver brought her in by wheelchair, but she got out of it and sat in a chair to wait her turn. When her name was called, she got up and walked steadily across the room and into the podiatry clinic.
My colleague then pointed out that the lady had turned 100 in June of this year.......

I'm not sure who's the eldest but I'm a member of a local senior citizens club and there's several there that are well into their nineties.

Aparrantly women live, on average, roughly 5% longer than men. This means that, once you reach the top end, you get a much higher proportion who are women. Over 100 it is 4:1 or so.

Tis true. Men, in the constant pursuit of women, either do things that kill them early or live a lifestyle to attract a mate that decreases their longevity from disease etc. HAs always been the case and will always be.

Both my Nans made it to 99 so no letter from Her Majesties Chief Stamp Licker.

One Nan (Step Nan really) outlived my Step Dad who only made 59 so never collected a pension.

My natural Nan was FAF until the last couple of years when ill health took hold.

103. A lady who was in the same care home as my Nan. Nan had dementia and this other lady, Betty, didn't. She said that her kids had died and she couldn't fend for herself any longer and needed a 'bit of help' but didn't like only getting to associate with 'old people' all the time. She was as sharp as a tack.
