So a very kind @wonderloaf supplied me a new set of pads and I was ready to fit them the other night when I noticed my qr on the brake was loose and not actually holding the cable tight. I have also got a frayed cable and a kink in it where the cable must of slipped through. So the plan is to replace the cable and in doing this I might as well get rid of the dirty white bar tape.

I have seen a set of Clark brake cables front and rear for £5 but do you think it's worth it or should I spend a bit more for shimano. Also what colour bar tape to go for the bike is white with blue and red graphics I don't want white again?

Sorry, it has to be white bar tape again - trying to keep it clean is your penance for enjoying cycling!
Oh really but it just looks a bit tacky. I did see a black with perforations a red behind that looked nice but wasn't sure if that would be too much think it was from Merlin?

Clarkes cables will be fine, I've used them before with no problems. I've no opinion on the bar tape colour as long as it isn't red
Ah excellent will pick up a set then I was just confused by the black cable as all the others seem to be silver didn't know if they were cheaper quality and more liable to stretch or snap?

Mmmm red was a choice. That and good old black but not sure yet.
