What's the best way to organise your CD / DVD collection ?

I have 0CDs, deep, vain DVDs and no telly.

I don't have the luxury of living in the provinces @Crackle, with vast swathes of walls to accommodate multiple bookcases. Someones moving into my London flat with their stuff in the near future.

To put it another way, I have a finite shelf life problem.

I mean, why are DVD cases basically twice the size of CD cases ? I've chucked 5 bin bags of DVDs in the recycling and only just commenced with the Americas - such a waste of space...

Ah. You need to see my thread on NAS storage Thom. Dunno how long it would take you to rip them all though, sound like quite a library

stick em all on a hard drive and put the collection in the loft.

...mostly.

another option i considered was by the height of the age ratings.... going from highest, to none.

alphabetical, genre, director or lead actor... it's all rather dull don't you think?

Can I borrow Moon?

Does this imply you don't do popular music then ?

And how do you handle a CD by a perfomer playing works by multiple composers ?
Largely yes. Pop goes random.
I rarely go for performer led CDs but they are in a little group if so.

In truth Thom, it all goes pear-shaped due to laziness. isn't that the usual result for any normal person whichever method you choose?
